What Sets Us Apart

The Difference a Considered Workshop Makes

There are many places to have a watch looked at. Fewer where you can be certain it is in skilled, careful, and completely honest hands.

Six Reasons Owners Choose Boon Horology

Each one reflects how we genuinely operate — not how we would like to be described.

Deep Horological Expertise

Two decades of hands-on work with mechanical movements — not general repair, but watchmaking as a dedicated discipline.

Written Assessments Before Work

Every service begins with a written condition report and proposed scope. You decide what happens — always.

Calibrated Timing Measurement

We measure movement rate objectively using a timing machine, giving you measurable before-and-after data rather than impressions.

Heritage Restoration Capability

We make replacement parts by hand, conserve aged dials, and treat inherited watches with the respect they deserve — a rare service in northeastern Thailand.

Service Warranty on Completed Work

When we complete a service, we stand behind it. Work-related faults are addressed without additional charge within the warranty period.

Clear, Unhurried Communication

We explain what we find in plain language, without jargon or sales pressure. Questions are always welcome, at any stage.

Specialist Expertise

The watchmaker at Boon Horology has spent over twenty years working exclusively on mechanical and automatic movements. This is not a sideline to general electronics repair or a service offered alongside jewellery — it is the sole focus of the workshop.

That depth of focus matters when the work is delicate. A movement that has been poorly serviced — over-oiled, damaged during disassembly, or reassembled without care — is often worse off than if it had been left alone. Specialist knowledge protects against these outcomes.

  • 20+ years with mechanical movements
  • Formal horological training
  • Experienced with vintage calibres
  • Hand-part fabrication capability
  • Dial conservation knowledge

Measurement, Not Guesswork

A watchmaker's timing machine measures a movement's rate of gain or loss at different positions and amplitudes — data that is invisible to the eye. We use this equipment as a matter of course, not as a premium add-on.

This means our assessment of your watch's condition is grounded in measurement. We can tell you exactly how far it was running fast or slow before service, and confirm what the adjustment achieved. It also helps us detect problems — a movement that performs poorly on the machine often has an underlying issue worth addressing early.

  • Multi-position timing measurement
  • Amplitude and beat error readings
  • Before/after data shared on request
  • Early fault detection via machine data

A Service Built Around You

We recognise that leaving a valued watch with someone requires a degree of trust. Our response to that is to be communicative, transparent, and unhurried. We do not set quotas or push additional work that was not needed.

You are welcome to ask questions at any point — before, during, and after service. If something unexpected is found mid-work, we stop and call before continuing. Your watch is yours, and the decisions about it remain yours throughout.

  • Written scope agreed upfront
  • No work added without discussion
  • Plain language throughout
  • Walk-ins welcome during opening hours
  • Questions answered at any stage

Clear, Fixed Pricing

Our three service tiers are priced clearly: Maintenance at ฿4,400, Bracelet & Strap Service at ฿7,600, and Full Heritage Restoration at ฿14,700. What is included in each is described on our Solutions page.

For restoration work, additional costs for sourced or fabricated parts are discussed in the written plan before work begins. There are no hidden charges, no surprises on collection, and no pressure to choose a more expensive option than the watch actually requires.

  • Transparent, published prices
  • No hidden fees on collection
  • Extra costs agreed in writing first
  • No upselling of unnecessary work

What Makes the Difference

What You Will Not Find Elsewhere in the Region

Hand-Made Part Fabrication

For watches where replacement parts are no longer commercially available, we fabricate what is needed on-site. This capability — rare outside specialist workshops in major cities — is what makes true heritage restoration possible.

Documented Restoration Plans

Every heritage restoration opens with a detailed written plan — a document you receive before work starts that outlines the condition found, the work proposed, and the expected outcome. No other workshop in Khon Kaen offers this as standard practice.

Dial Conservation Philosophy

We treat aged dials as a feature, not a flaw. Where possible, we stabilise and conserve original dials rather than replacing them — preserving the watch's authenticity and, for collectors, its value.

Specialist Workshop in Isan

Fine mechanical watch service of this depth has not previously been available in Khon Kaen or the wider northeastern region without sending a watch to Bangkok. Boon Horology brings that standard of work here, locally.
